Does this payment method affect the $50,000 USD exchange quota set by the SAFE regulator?
No, this payment method is considered a cross-border payment and does not impact the exchange quota established by China’s State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE).
Are there any fees involved?
Yes, fees are applied to the bill amount for all transactions. Fees may vary, with charges up to 3.0% or no fee for specific billers. You will see the applicable rate in the T&Cs section before completing your payment.
Can I use Oligo BPAY Payment Services for all my bills?
No, due to regulations in China and Visa and Mastercard Card Rules, certain sectors such as gambling, adult digital content, and mortgage-related payments are excluded. Currently, we support bill payments for major telcos, councils, schools, universities, and utility providers. Please contact us if you have any questions.
Is there a payment limit for each bill?
Yes, the minimum payment amount is $100 AUD, and the maximum is $30,000 AUD.
What if my bill exceeds $30,000?
You can split the payment into multiple transactions ($5,000 AUD per transaction is recommended). For example, if your bill is $50,000 AUD, you can divide it into ten equal payments of $5,000.
What if I pay more than the bill amount?
Typically, the overpaid amount will convert to credit for your next billing cycle. For example, if your AGL bill is $200 and you pay $300, the extra $100 will usually be credited to your next bill. For further information, please refer to Oligo BPAY Payment Services T&Cs.
Can I pay a bill on someone else's behalf?
Yes, just select the biller and accurately enter the required reference fields and amount from the bill you want to pay. We require a contactable and valid Australian mobile phone number for verification in the event of refunds or payment issues.

Who is processing my payments?
Oligo Australia Pty Ltd ABN 93 671 840 994 (referred to as “Oligo”, “we”, “us” or “our”) is a product issuer, authorised and regulated by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), with licence number 555282. We issue a non-cash payment product in the form of the Oligo BPAY Payment Services (“OBPS”). Transactions using the OBPS product are processed in two distinct stages:
- When a user instructs Oligo to pay a BPAY bill on their behalf, Oligo will initiate a transaction through the card scheme or digital wallets.
- Oligo will then transfer the bill amount to the Biller on the same business day that cleared funds are received from the user. We leverage our banking partner to ensure efficient and accurate processing of bill payments.
